Land Problem Commission, Bardia has been increasing the number of people who have applied for land owner share. According to the Land Problems Commission, more than 47,900 people have registered applications till Sunday.
The Land Problems Commission, which was established on December 29 last year, has set a deadline of Baisakh Mashant for those who missed the registration or could not register the application due to various reasons. Three types of applications need to be submitted to the
commission. There are Dalits, landless squatters, unorganized squatters in the application of three categories. After receiving a large number of applications, there is a problem in providing land.
Ram Bahadur Tharu, a member of the Commission, said that even though there is forest land, those who are living in places where there are no trees will be provided with land owners' allowance. He said that the landowners will be distributed in the case of those who have been living in settlements in degraded forests, public lands, etc.
69-year-old Buddhiprasad Tharu, who has been living on Ailani land since 2024 in Walapur settlement of Gulria municipality-5, complained that the problem has not been solved despite the formation of many commissions. He said that even though the application has been registered many times, the landowner has not received the compensation.
In Walapur, 256 house owners have not received the land owner's allowance from the Squatter Commission. Mul Badghar Kali Prasad Tharu of Walapur said that although many squatter commissions have been formed, the problem has not been resolved. "The leaders assured that the land owners will distribute the share," he said, "Even after five decades, the 256 houses here have not been able to receive the share." There are many problems including not getting loan from the bank if the land owner does not get the parts. Residents of the slums who have been living here for years are forced to live on Ailani land. They have not been able to do any work due to lack of spare parts.
Officials of the Community Forest Users Federation say that people from the district and outside have encroached on the forest land by taking advantage of the political instability in the country. Central Vice President of Community Forest Users' Federation, Muhammad Kar Khan, said that the landowners will not allow the distribution of compensation to those who have encroached on the legally transferred community forests.
