Tilottma Dalit Knowledge Festival 2082, organized for ensuring justice, equality and rights of the Dalit community, has been completed. The two-day festival organized by Tilottama Municipality of Rupandehi ended on Saturday.
Janmjay Timilsena, Social Development Minister of Lumbini Province concluded the Gyan Utsav with a ceremony. Addressing the closing ceremony of the Gyan Utsav, Minister Timilsena said that people's representatives should play an important role in bringing the marginalized Dalit community into the mainstream of the state. He also said that the Lumbini state government is preparing to introduce the Dalit Rights Act. Minister Timilsena also says that Tilottama Municipality has done exemplary work by holding Dalit Knowledge Festival. In the closing program of
, Ramakrishna Khan, Head of Tilottama Municipality, said that the second year of Dalit Knowledge Festival was successfully completed under the campaign to make the city a city of humanity.
Earlier, debates and discussions were held in different sessions on Saturday in the Gyan Utsav program. In Saturday's discussion, former minister Meen Vishwakarma, CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bertaula, Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA) Chief Whip Santosh Periyar participated in the discussion on 'Dalit question and representation in federalism'. The participants in the discussion said that federalism is a state of joy or dismay for the Dalit community, but there has been some improvement in the matter of representation, but it is not enough. The program was facilitated by journalist Vinod Pariyar.
Likewise, the former secretary of Tilottama Dr. Man Bahadur Wik, Chief Administrative Officer Narayan Aryal, Head of Area Administration Office Butwal Ramchandra Aryal expressed their views. Similarly, on the second day, the Deputy Mayor of Butwal sub-metropolitan Savitradevi Aryal and scholar Sushil VK were the speakers, and the Dalit-friendly budget was discussed in the local government. On the first day, on Friday, a discussion was held between Nepali Congress Lumbini Whip Jamuna Dhakal, UML Whip Tulsi Chaudhary and Social Development Committee Coordinator Yam Bahadur Gayre Nepali on the topic of 'Empowerment of Dalit Community in Lumbini Province, Dalit Rights Act and Role of Political Parties'. Similarly, the issue of political parties and Dalit inclusion was discussed by Nepali Congress Rupandehi Chairman Ramkrishna Khan, CPN UML Rupandehi Chairman Yagya Gayre and CPN Maoist Center Chairman Nirmal GCBich. The issues of Dalits and entrepreneurship were discussed between entrepreneurs Jitu Baudel, Tara Sunar, Phanindra Ghele and this session was facilitated by Jeevan Pariyar. debate, painting performances against discrimination, song and music performances, the experiences of federal, provincial and local level stakeholders and social awareness were discussed. Executive member Ravi Century said that the festival brought the rights and issues of the Dalit community back into the debate and the local government organized this program to increase the self-esteem of Dalits. The two-day Gyan Utsav organized with the slogan 'Justice, Equality and Rights' was inaugurated by former Minister and Federal Member of Parliament Chabilal Bishwakarma.
