On the Nepal-India border, which is connected to Bardia, the security personnel of both the countries have tightened the security at 20 checkpoints. 80 percent of India's Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary and dense forest cover the 83 km long open border.

Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and Indian SSB have conducted a joint patrol in Dasgaja while keeping a special vigilance at Ganeshpur in Bardiya and India's Laukahi crossing which is considered to be the most dangerous in terms of security. Apart from this, records are taken at the border on those who come and go. Questions such as where to go, when to return, what to go for and whom to meet have been asked.

Chief District Officer Rudradevi Sharma said that the security personnel of both countries have tightened the border so that there is no unwanted activity from the border. He says that the identity card is mandatory.

After the India-Pakistan conflict escalated with the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir, the security vigilance has been increased in the southern border of Nepal. 20 border outposts (BOPs) of the armed police have also increased checks and patrols.

Meanwhile, locals have said that in the past, the number of Nepalis going to the Indian border markets Laukahi and Balaigaon was very low.
