Keshar Khadka has been elected as the President of Lumbini Province of Nepal Forest Technical Association. He was unanimously elected president after Khadka, who was a candidate on behalf of the Democratic Forest Technical Association, did not contest.

According to the election committee, Surya Prasad Mainali, two secretaries, Robert Mahara and Anupa Silwal, and Raghavendra Pratap Chaudhary, were elected as the vice president of the association.

Similarly, Navraj Shahi, Naveen Pandey, Bhavna Rizal, Kavita Gayre, Ejaz Ansari and Kamala Sunar have been elected as working committee members. In Lumbini province, there are more than 7,000 forest technical voters including 1,600 government employees.

Khadka said that he should spend his tenure to further strengthen the forest management based on the promotion system in the province and advocate for debate about it. The association will give priority to establishing the Nepal Forest Council center to distribute qualification certificates to forest experts, he said.

Even though more than 45 percent of the country is a forest area, wood and firewood rot in the forest and it is a problem to import billions of rupees worth of wood from abroad.
