Dilaram Rizal, a resident of Malarani Rural Municipality-4, Nigalitol, has beaten up a Dalit girl on the charge of making garbage in a well. On Tuesday morning, 22-year-old Preeti initially abused Vick by saying that he had come to fill his padhenro with water. After that, Vic beat him when he did not leave the well.
Rizal hit Vick on the back with a stick, saying that there is a temple above the well and Dalits are untouchable when filling water and washing clothes. While being beaten, Vic screamed and pleaded with the neighbor. When the neighbors came, Rizal ran away. The injured Vick is being treated at Arghakhanchi Hospital. His condition is normal.
Rizal, who was beaten up, was arrested by the police on Tuesday and released on Wednesday after the victim Vic's relatives told him to release the arrested Rizal. "This is a well where everyone in the village drinks water," Vic said, "In the morning I came to the well and was washing clothes. All of a sudden he (Rizal) came and shouted why he had washed the clothes, he had to leave here and threw away the pot, the head, the soap.'
Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Malla investigated and said that the incident was caused by garbage in the well rather than caste discrimination.
Rizal was detained on Tuesday after his relatives filed a complaint saying that he had been beaten up and Rizal, who was being detained along with the injured Vic, was released on Wednesday after his relatives told him to leave. He said that there was no complaint of racial untouchability, only a complaint of beating.
He said that Rizal is under surveillance by the police and can be detained at any time.
