The team of Ward Police Office Chandrauta has arrested an Indian citizen with 42 lakh 90 thousand 444 rupees of unknown source.
The money was recovered from 22-year-old Shiva Patwa, a resident of Tulsipur police station, Sonpurgram, Balrapur district, India, who was camping in a house of Ramesh Barai in Shivraj Municipality-5, Galaxy Toll, around 3 pm on Sunday. Based on a special information, the money was recovered by raiding the room where he was staying.
Indian Rupees 26 thousand 544 at various rates and the remaining amount is Nepalese, District Police Chief Superintendent Niranjan Dutt Bhatt said. A money counting machine and a mobile phone were also recovered from the said house. It is suspected that the seized amount may be related to illegal transactions including hundi.
The police said that further investigation is being conducted on the arrested person and the necessary legal process has been taken forward.
