The youth of Banke Kohalpur are learning to make gold and silver jewellery. 10 Dalit, underprivileged youths, including two women, are learning to make gold and silver jewelry in Kohalpur city. Shankarveer Vick is training the participants.

A month-long basic training on gold and silver jewelry manufacturing has started under the organization of Central and Far West Gold and Silver Jewelery Business Association. Mayor Purna Acharya said that this kind of training was organized for the first time with the help of Kohalpur Municipality.

He says that unemployment is the biggest problem and that the municipality has helped to build Kaligad at the request of the union. "Skills and knowledge are necessary for employment and becoming self-sufficient," said Acharya, the city head, "Nowadays, many young people are getting trapped in the swamp of drugs. If there is a result from the jewelry making training, we will continue it in the coming days.

President and central member of Nepal Gold, Silver, Ratna and Jewelery Federation, Lumbini Province, Devi Lal Sunar said that the training was provided for the first time in the western region with the support of the local government. "We believe that this training will produce skilled youth in Kaligad," he said, "It is necessary to protect the traditional profession and pass it on to the new generation." There are more than 100 gold and silver businessmen in Kohalpur.
