A 6-year-old boy died in a fire in a shed in Gulmi on Friday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganga Bahadur Saru informed that 6-year-old Bivek Nepali, son of Ganesh Nepali and Mani Nepali of Nayagaon, Dhurkot Rural Municipality-1 of the district, died in the fire.

Vivek and his 9-year-old sister Asmi were playing in the barn with a Nepali lighter. When Vivek took the lighter and lit a fire in the straw, the fire spread to the two-storey shed. Along with the death of Vivek, the two-storied shed has been completely burnt down.

After the fire broke out, sister Asmi went outside to look for help, but brother Vivek was found dead on the second floor.

Ward president Chetman Kunwar informed that the incident took place when the deceased Vivek's father was in India for work and his mother had gone to Bari for work. Ward president Kunwar said that Vivek lost his life when he set fire to the lower floor and went to hide on the upper floor.

A team of 7 people led by Police Inspector Laxman Vick from District Police Office Gulmi has been deployed at the scene.
