Siddharth Nagar Municipality is going to take the initiative for the operation of regular international flights at Gautam Buddha International Airport by leading various social associations/organizations, civil society and representatives of political parties within the city.

Siddharthnagar municipality organized on Monday in its own working room, the municipality will take the lead for this according to the suggestions of the participants in the interaction regarding the regular operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport.

In order to operate regular international flights at Gautam Budh International Airport, the interaction program has concluded that a delegation will be held with the Prime Minister and the relevant ministries, and if they are ignored, a pressure program will be organized with various kinds of protests.

"For this, the municipality will move forward with mutual coordination by including all associations, political parties and civil society representatives of the city," said Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, Mayor of Siddharth Nagar, "If necessary, under the leadership of the municipality, for the regular operation of the Gautam Buddha International Airport, a movement will be decided and carried forward without affecting the general public." Due to the lack of unity and coordination, it could not be meaningful, so the participants of the program felt that a pressing program should be conducted under the leadership of the municipality.

Most of the participants in the program claimed that there is a business group active in preventing the operation of Bhairahawa and Pokhara International Airports and that group has influenced some party leaders and responsible bodies of the government because their business will be reduced if international flights are operated outside Kathmandu.

"The gang that does not allow the regular operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport is active in Kathmandu and a joint movement against it is the need of the moment," said Mahendra Kumar Shrestha, a local businessman and former central member of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Stating that it is not meaningful without being united, she said that Siddharthnagar Municipality is ready to lead it with the support of all local organizations and concerned bodies.

'Let's stop the arrival of political party leaders and ministers coming to Bhairahawa from domestic flights and start a pressure program at the airport,' said the official, 'Internal discussions and suggestions from all agencies will be included in this matter.'
