Commemorating the day when the British army that came to attack Nepal was defeated, a victory celebration was celebrated at Jitgarhi Fort, a historical place in Rupandehi.
Butwal sub-metropolitan city in collaboration with the Nepalese army organized a special program on Sunday to celebrate Jitgarhi victory. Butwal sub-metropolitan city has been celebrating Jitgarhi festival every year.
During the Nepal-British war, there is a history of the Nepalese army defeating the British army at Jitgarhi in Butwal. After the defeat, the British army that came to occupy Nepal returned later. The victory celebration has become grand due to the presence of the Nepali army team that has been marching from Gorkha at Jitgarhi fort. A welcome ceremony was held at Jitgarhi fort for the trekkers who came from Nepali Gorkha to Butwal with various cultural and ethnic tableaus. Various cultural programs were organized on the occasion of the festival. Various artists presented patriotic songs and dances in the festival organized in promotion of Butwal sub-metropolis.

Addressing the victory celebration, Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Chetnarayan Acharya said that the state government will take initiatives to list the Jitgarhi Fort in the World Heritage List. Chief Minister Acharya also assured that he will take initiatives with the federal government to name Colonel Ujirsingh Thapa as a national hero. It is necessary to create an atmosphere of pride in history. It is important to highly respect the spirit of dedication shown to the nation,' he said, 'We can never forget that sacrifice and dedication.'

Mentioning that the Nepalese army succeeded in defeating the British army because of self-confidence, he said, 'We are here today because of the self-respect preserved by the warriors of that time.' He said that initiatives are being taken to protect historical palaces, forts, forts and footpaths.
