Suddhodhan Rural Municipality Chairman Kamlesha Sharan Chaudhary was shot at midnight on Thursday.
At 11:30 pm, Mayadevi rural municipality ward no. District Police Office Information Officer and DSP Mohanmani Adhikari said that shots were fired at the residence at 1 Pakdi.
The DSP official said quoting his statement that he was shot when he was returning from going to the toilet when the power went out.
Chairman Chaudhary has told the police that he shot himself with a pistol from outside the compound of the house. He said that he was not injured by the bullet.
The deputy superintendent officer said that a bullet casing was recovered from the scene. The DSP officer said that the incident is being further investigated.
