Two motorable bridges under construction on the Kaligandaki river have not been completed for eight years. The same builder had taken the contract for the construction of the bridge at two places. Tankanath Khanal, head of the district coordination committee, said that even the representative of the construction company could not be found at the bridge construction site.

He said that he found out only after calling the various offices that the contract for the construction of these two bridges was through the bridge sector Pokhara. "Even the hoarding board was not seen when the MP, administration, district coordination, municipality came to monitor," he said, "This happened due to the negligence of the concerned office and stakeholders." The same construction company has taken the contract for the construction of the bridge in two places. But he has stalled the work at both locations, said Khanal, head of coordination.

Locals said that the main contractor is entrusting the construction work to the sub-contractor. The bridge is in a standstill as the main contractor is not coming in contact. The local Dharma Neupane of Yamgha-6 said that due to the extreme negligence of the construction company, the construction of the bridge could not be completed. "It has been seven/eight years since it has been the same," he said, "pillars have been kept around". In the middle, it is kept now. But the work has been delayed a lot. The builder has signed a contract for both concrete bridges in Banstari and Gejha Wardle on November 22, 2074.

The construction company should have completed the work 5 years ago on November 21, 2077. But even after 5 years have passed since the construction deadline, only 45 percent of Banstari has made material progress. Financial progress is only 28 percent. 45 percent of the bamboo concrete bridge at Yamgha Darpuk and the financial progress has been only 28 percent . The bridge costing 25 crores has four spans. Bridge Sector Pokhara has informed that the contract for the construction of a 200 meter long bridge has been awarded.

A team of people's representatives including Thakur Gayre, Chairman of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the Director Principles, Policy and Duties of the State, Bir Bahadur Rana, Member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly, Chief Khanal of the District Coordination Committee, Chief District Officer Toynarayan Subedi, Baganaskali Rural Municipality Vice President Hari Prasad and others came to the House of Representatives for monitoring the bridge. "Not even workers were seen at the construction site," said Gayre, a member of the House of Representatives and chairman of the committee.

Similarly, Rampur Municipality-10, Gejha Wardley bridge has 75 percent physical progress. Milan Shrestha, Information Officer of Bridge Sector Pokhara, said that 58 percent of the financial progress of this bridge has been achieved. The 220 meter long bridge under construction in Wardale has three spans. He said that Sapna-Mahadev Khimti-Diva JV construction company has also taken the contract for this bridge. Its cost is 28 crores. It has also been agreed to start the construction work on November 21, 2077 . The office said that the final deadline was given by the end of this June after several extensions. 

Gejha Bardale's bridge work has been accelerated now . But in Banstari, the pillar is raised and kept. Now there is a suspension bridge on Kaligandaki river. Motorcycles and pedestrians come and go from that bridge. Subedi, the chief district officer of Palpa, said that he contacted the head of bridge sector Pokhara several times and sought information about the situation. "I have made several phone calls and asked for information about the condition of the bridge connecting Palpa," he said, "I will call the builder and get information about why the work has not been completed and it will be discussed with everyone." 

He said that he wanted to work quickly. Gyanendra Prasad Kalaune, the head of Bridge Sector Pokhara, said that he has instructed the builders to proceed with the construction work repeatedly. He said that there is a problem due to the fact that the builders are not able to manage and mobilize their finances and that there is a problem of taking contracts and leaving the work incomplete in many places. We have not allowed the lack of budget, he said, we have already paid the obligations of the previous year to the builders who are working. Chief Kalaune said that the delay in the work was due to the builder's own cause and not because of the office.
