The repair work of the diversion in Dumkibas of East Nawalparasi under the East-West Highway has started. The flood in Vinayi river washed away the diversion around 11 am today.
Due to the decrease in the water level, the diversion is now being constructed at the same location with the help of two excavators, the police said. After the ongoing traffic jam and diversion in Downe, buses coming from Butwal and Kathmandu in the west have been diverted from Mugling in Chitwan.
The diversion was built after the bridge on Binayi River collapsed due to the collision of an overloaded vehicle on 26th of January. Due to the rain on Saturday morning, the river rose and diverted the traffic.
Even though essential and small vehicles have been operated through alternative routes, cargo and large vehicles have been jammed since morning. The road department and the administration have requested that while traveling on the Butwal Narayangadh road section, they should only understand the road conditions and use alternative routes.
