CPN-UML is demonstrating in Butwal on Friday in favor of the republic. The UML started demonstrating against them and in favor of the republic saying that the monarchists were active. Leaders including party president and prime minister KP Sharma Oli, vice president and finance minister Bishnu Paudel are scheduled to address the demonstration.

UML had decided to demonstrate in different 7 cities of the country from Chait 24th to 30th. In addition, UML district president Yagya Gayre said that a program is going to be held in Butwal with the aim of informing about the current situation of the country and demonstrating in favor of the republic. He said that today's meeting in Butwal will be at the provincial level. The meeting will be held at Butwal International Conference Center (BICC) in Ramnagar.

UML secretary and in-charge of Lumbini province Padma Aryal said that the first objective of the demonstration is to strengthen the democratic republic by alerting the people against regressive activities. "The national awakening campaign has been launched in favor of the republic by institutionalizing the democratic republic," she said, "We are doing it in Butwal of Lumbini province." Questions have also been raised as to why the party in the government held the assembly. However, she claimed that even in the party government, it is necessary to explain the false propaganda against the system to the common citizens. She said that it is the duty of all the democratic parties to move forward and protect the system even if there are some weaknesses in the party's work. She stated that it is true that EMAL has not been able to work according to the people's wishes and said that even though the party is keeping clear things about the reforms, some groups have been spreading unrestrained propaganda.
