A teenage girl has died due to the storm and lightning in Rolpa. According to the police, two other children were injured by lightning.

The police said that on Wednesday night and till Thursday morning, along with rain and wind, lightning struck various places and caused human and physical damage. Dhanmaya Khatri, the 16-year-old daughter of local Jhamke Khatri, who was living with her parents in a shed in Sunilsmriti Rural Municipality-5 Kwaligaon, was struck by lightning while she was sleeping. The police said that the girl died on the spot. The incident happened around 1 am on Thursday. His parents, who were sleeping in the barn, were not injured.

In the house of Tika Bahadur Khatri, a resident of the said village, his 15-year-old son Naveen Khatri was injured. Similarly, his 13-year-old daughter Leela Gharti was also injured when lightning struck her neighbor Tika Bahadur Gharti's house. Both of them are in normal condition and have been treated at a local health center. Two goats belonging to Tika Bahadur Gharti were killed by lightning.

The police say that it is a challenge for the common people to be safe because the lightning struck at night. The incident site is about 15 kilometers northeast of Rolpa headquarters Liwang.

Similarly, lightning has also damaged local houses in Sunchahari rural municipality-3 village of East Rolpa. According to the police, the solar panel, battery and sound box in the house of Kul Bahadur Budha of Gam village, covered with stone, mud and tin, were completely damaged by lightning and the wall of the house was also cracked. Rolpa police chief Bharat Lama said that the collection of damage details of other places is continuing.
