"Our main objective is to declare a municipality where child-friendly local governance has been implemented," he said, "The campaign is to reduce the number of child marriages from the municipality to zero."
In the campaign against child marriage, students are aware, parents' meetings, teachers and students are conducting targeted programs, he said. Various programs have been held since three years ago. In the Children's Fair held in Nisdi Rural Municipality-2, Sahalkot, a competitive program for developing intellectual capacity and raising awareness for child development centers, primary, basic and secondary levels has been held among various schools. Competitions such as picture identification, sweet race, recitation, intelligence test, attendance answer, English spelling, attendance answer, elocution, men's and women's volleyball, 100 meter run for students have been organized.
Lumbini Provincial Assembly Member and Chairman of Finance, Industry, Tourism Committee Raju Shrestha, Village Chairman Mukt Bahadur Saru, Vice Chairman Tirankumari Shrestha, Head of Administration Arjun Khanal and others distributed prizes and certificates to the winning students. Rural Municipality Vice President Tirankumari Shrestha said that various creative programs are being carried out in preparation for the declaration of the municipality that child-friendly local governance has been implemented. Arjun Khanal, head of the administration of the rural municipality, said that the program made by students to end child marriage, as well as the participation of parents for public awareness, was more effective.
