In Lumbini province, revenue collection from the forest sector has not been possible as expected. Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya has expressed concern about this.

While inaugurating the monitoring program of the effectiveness of the forest management program based on the promotion system conducted in Lumbini province on Tuesday in Deukhuri, he emphasized that the forest sector must be brought under the scope of taxation .

'Forest area must come under the scope of tax . Chief Minister Acharya said, "The government cannot move forward by losing revenue. It is necessary to be strict about the forests that are under the scope of taxation. Mentioning that there is a situation where wood is being misused in the name of consumers, he asked to pay special attention to it. "The consumer committee will make the forests better, the government will do the work of development," he said.

Acharya pointed out the need to review how much achievement has been achieved by taking forests as a major source of income. "It was expected to collect 2.5 billion rupees in revenue this year, but the results did not come as expected," he said, "Wood is piled up in the forest, but it has not been raised for years." Wood is turning into dust, fire is making ashes.'

Forest and Environment Minister of Lumbini Province, Devkaran Prasad Kalwar emphasized on the need to increase people's dedication to forests.

Chairman of the Agriculture, Forestry and Environment Committee Vishwaprem Pathak said that a study will be conducted on how effective the implementation of the policy has been. What is the contribution of forests to prosperity? It is important to study all subjects,' he said.

A forest management program based on the extension system has been implemented in 365 community forests, two Chakla forests and five partnership forests in Lumbini province. Lumbini has 4 thousand 52 community forests, 8 partnership forests, 416 Kabuliat forests, 938 private forests, 30 religious forests, 2 Chakla forests and 4 protected forests.
