Hariram Gupta of Yashodhara rural municipality went to the district police office to file a complaint. He, who did not know how to write, was looking for a scribe outside the gate of the police station. After seeing the confusion for a long time, the police who were in the nearby Civil Help Desk suggested to scan the QR code on the mobile phone and print it and bring a sheet.

After scanning the QR code on his mobile phone and printing it from a nearby shop, the police filled the name, address and details, Gupta submitted the complaint to the case branch. According to him, the cost of printing the complaint was Rs 10.

Kapilvastu police have been using technology since last December to receive complaints and petitions from eight types of QR. Anyone who comes with a problem can submit an application by scanning the QR code, which has made it much easier for the customer. As they have technical knowledge, they scan the application and fill it. The DSP official said that with this arrangement, the practice of bringing in middlemen and incurring unnecessary expenses on the grounds that they do not have knowledge of the language has ended.

President Burma said that since this arrangement will establish direct contact between the police and the victims, it is expected to institutionalize and strengthen the justice system along with ease in legal remedies.

Chief District Officer Dilkumar Tamang says that since the youth generation is becoming technology-friendly, this will help them in their ease. The district police has been providing service users with the facility to write petitions and complaints free of charge since last December. For those with language problems and those who do not know how to write, a police assistant has been placed in the civil assistant cell.

So far 120 people have taken this facility. The district traffic police office at Gorusinge on the East-West Highway has also arranged to scan QR codes at the gate of the office for bill book and lost license applications.
