Auto-tempo and e-rickshaws operating without registration without meeting the prescribed criteria have been banned from operating in the Siddharthnagar municipality area.

Siddharth Nagar Municipality has stopped the operation of auto tempo and e-rickshaws which are operating without registration in violation of the rules.

Janak Thapa, the chief administrative officer of the municipality, informed that auto-tempo and e-rickshaws that did not come through the registration process without meeting the criteria have been completely banned from operating in the Siddharthnagar area since March 11.

He said that in order to bring all the auto-tempo and e-rickshaws under the legal process, the city police will be mobilized daily and fined by emergency checks on the roads at various places.

According to Thapa, since Chait 11, 35 auto tempos and e-rickshaws have been taken into action. For the first time, each auto-tempo and e-rickshaw has been fined at the rate of 5,000 rupees. In coordination with Mayadevi, Omasatia, Siyari and Rohini villages which are connected with the municipality, all the municipalities have prepared criteria to operate auto tempo and e-rickshaws in an orderly manner and those who are not registered were given an opportunity to register within 10th of Chait.

Belhia-Sunauli border, bus park, Buddha birthplace Lumbini, airport, headquarters of Rupandehi district, etc. Due to excessive traffic of passengers in Siddharthanagar area, the number of auto tempo and e-rickshaws is also excessive. Not only in Siddharthnagar area, but also businessmen and Indian citizens living in various other municipalities come to Nepal and operate this business.

'In case of accidents, fraud and illegal activities by auto tempos and e-rickshaws without fulfilling the criteria and not even registering, we had to stop the registration because they cannot be identified,' Chief Administrative Officer Thapa said, 'Complaints are coming from passengers that they charge excessive fares, commit other frauds and illegal activities.'

Blue book, driver's license, insurance and route license of the related vehicle are mandatory for registration.
