Down road section, which was blocked since Friday evening, was opened one-way after 14 hours on Saturday morning.

"There is a very long traffic jam in Downe, we are going to Downe with the district police chief now," said District Traffic Police Chief Janak Banjara, "We will conduct an on-site inspection to see why there is no traffic jam."

He said that he was going there in the morning. During the widening of the highway, 103 culverts and bridges are under construction in the 14 km road section of Daunne area. Due to the big pits dug in the place where the culvert and bridge are being constructed, there is a daily jam.

Sital Sharma, who traveled from Bharatpur to Delhi, India by bus, informed on the telephone that he got into a traffic jam at Downne from 5 pm on Friday and reached Bardghat at 7 am. He said that hundreds of vehicles and thousands of passengers were stranded on the dusty road all night long.

The southern section of the Mahendra Highway between Dumkiwas and Bardghat covers an area of 14 km. 18,000 vehicles pass through this highway every day. In that section, there is a Dhulamya road. Although there is an agreement with the construction company to add water for dust control, the Chinese company China State Engineering is not adding water.
