In Gulmi, 700 chickens were destroyed along with two-storied raw sheds due to a fire caused by a short circuit.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganga Bahadur Saru informed that the shed with tin roof of Arjaika Dilaram Aryal of Malika rural municipality ward number 6 of the district suddenly caught fire at 12:30 pm on Saturday night.
According to the police, 700 layers of chickens and tin roofed mud huts, rakhi grains, rice and corn in the huts were completely destroyed by fire.
After the fire, the police were deployed at that location. The fire was brought under control after an hour and a half at half past two. Information officer Saru said that the details of the overall financial loss have not yet come to the police.
Kamal Aryal, son of fire victim Dilaram Aryal, claimed that the damage was more than 1.5 million rupees. Aryal said that 700 layers of hens ready to lay eggs were completely destroyed by fire.
He complained that the shed that is now burnt was like a house before but now it has been moved to a new one because everything is the same as the old one.
