According to the Lumbini Province Disaster Management Council, 1,752 disaster incidents have occurred in the current year. 298 people lost their lives in that incident. The incidents of human casualties have also increased in the current year compared to last year. There were 1,120
incidents last year. In which 76 people died. 196 people were injured. Similarly, in the current year 2081/82, 1 crore 21 lakh 22 thousand rupees have been distributed for relief and reconstruction. According to the council, 1 crore 637 thousand rupees have been distributed for
relief and 14 lakh 85 thousand rupees for reconstruction.
Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya is the chairman of the council. The meeting held under his chairmanship on Tuesday decided to allocate the budget to stop river erosion of Ranimahl, a major tourist destination of Palpa. Similarly, the Chief Minister's Press Coordinator Dasharath Ghimire said that it has also been decided to allocate budget for security of squatter settlements in Tansen, mitigation of Rapti river erosion risk in Banke, irrigation works in the area connected with Bardia National Park of Karnali river. In the
meeting, a plan to link disaster relief with insurance and make it related to skills and production has been put forward. Chief Minister Acharya has also given instructions for effective disaster management by keeping in mind the pre-disaster situation, the disaster situation and the post-disaster situation.
"It is important to pay attention to reducing damage while making disaster response effective," he said, "There should be arrangements to ensure that roads are not blocked during disasters." If there is a disruption, an environment should be created so that recommendations from the district level can be made quickly for immediate relief distribution. In the
meeting, chief district officials of various districts reported on the fact that Lumbini province is at risk of multiple disasters, and the risk of earthquakes, floods, landslides, lightning, hail, storms and heavy rains is increasing naturally.
The risks of epidemics, fires, water accidents, road and industrial accidents are also increasing unnaturally. Chief district officers informed the meeting about pre-disaster preparations. In the
meeting, Health Minister Khem Bahadur Saru, Provincial Assembly Member Indrajit Tharu, Chief Secretary Baburam Adhikari and others presented the problems related to the disaster and stressed on cooperation between the community, security agencies and the government to make the disaster management work effective. The
