Illegally run hospitals, drug shops and labs have not been regulated in the district. Even in sensitive areas like health, negligence of regulatory bodies is increasing. Businessmen have opened their own health institutions and drug stores without meeting the standards.
The number of such health institutions is 53 in the capital Gulriya alone. According to the Gulria Municipality Health Branch, there are 53 polyclinics, pharmacies, pathology and private hospitals operating without permission from both the local level and the Lumbini Province Health Department in the headquarters alone.
Action has not been taken against those organizations that are operating illegally. This is the CT hospital which has been operating without permission and registration process with an investment of more than crores . Shiv Kumar Choudhary, the head of Gularia Municipality Health Office, said that 8 out of the 58 illegal ones were not even named.
According to him, an Indian citizen is also running a clinic in Gularia Municipality-11 Ganeshpur without taking permission. Due to lack of regular monitoring, the number of illegal drug shops is increasing.
Health institutions have been operating illegally in this way throughout the district. But the regulatory bodies have not yet taken action. Nor has the exact data been extracted by monitoring them.
Narayan Prasad Chaudhary, the head of the District Public Health Office, said that since he had just been transferred, the work was being done to collect the data. Health workers say that no action has been taken against the illegal drug dealers due to lack of interest from the regulatory bodies and drug administration department in the district.
