With the completion of the District Land Commission, the work of Nissa distribution and land surveying, which was stopped in Kohalpur of Banke, has been accelerated.
Purnaprasad Acharya, Mayor of Kohalpur Municipality, said that the local government led by him has accelerated the work with the plan to distribute red parts to landless Dalits, landless squatters and unorganized residents.
The commission was dissolved with the change of government. Our work also stopped in the middle. Now the land commission is complete. The works have started again,' said the city chief Acharya, 'We will start the work of distribution of land owners as soon as the Nissa distribution and land survey work is completed.'
Ward President of Ward No. 7 Thagga Tharu requested all the ward residents for their cooperation as the work is being done to solve the landless problem in the long term. 789 Nissa will be distributed in that ward. Amin Gobind KC said that the work of measuring the land will be started after the Nissa distribution.
Out of the 15 wards of Kohalpur municipality, the work of Nissa distribution and land surveying has almost been completed in all the wards except ward number 6. There are 598 landless Dalits, 850 landless squatters and 16,700 unorganized households in Kohalpur Municipality.
In Ward No. 1, the field book has been prepared along with the land survey, and the final preparations have been made for the distribution of parts to the landowners. KC also said that they are in the final preparation for distribution of land ownership certificates to 141 people, including landless Dalits and landless squatters, after completing the 7-day entitlement notice.
Similarly, the field book is in preparation in Ward No. 2. Field Assistant Prabhuman Tharu informed that 1,046 parcels of land of 1,365 households including landless Dalits, landless squatters and unorganized residents have been surveyed in Kohalpur municipality ward number 1.
