Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari said that the achievements of gender equality are gradually weakening instead of being institutionalized and asked to be sensitive to it.

Speaking at the interaction program of Lumbini state level women's representatives organized by Siddharth Nagar municipality of Rupandehi on Saturday, she said that despite policy and programmatic changes in favor of gender equality, the discrimination rooted in the society is causing violence against women .

Former President Bhandari also said that everyone should take advantage of the opportunities given by the restored parliament and the Constitution of 2072 for women's equality and empowerment.

On the basis of equality, even though women have reached three levels of government, it is sad that they are not able to lead according to their abilities. Complaints are heard that women are not given the opportunity of direct election, but women who have reached the House through proportional representation are treated unequally, she said. I urge you to stop such actions against the constitution.'

Former President Bhandari also said that cooperation between women and men and policy reforms are necessary to eliminate gender inequality in individuals, households, communities and state agencies. Stating that inequality will continue until the country develops and individuals become self-sufficient, she urged women to be self-sufficient, participate in education and economic activities. Former President Bhandari urged to improve public school education and provide nutritious and local meals to children in schools to eliminate malnutrition and increase economic activity from rural production.

With the slogan 'Women's participation in leadership, the cornerstone of justice and sustainable development'  In the completed program, women representing union, state and local levels from Lumbini region participated . They said that it was discrimination because of women in the same position and demanded to remove it . Siddharthnagar Municipality Deputy Chief Uma Adhikari said that despite ensuring the participation of women in the state bodies, she organized the program to find out the situation after hearing complaints of unequal treatment due to her being a woman.   In the

program, UML leader Padma Aryal stated that no one can deny the positive impact of women's participation in politics and said that people's representatives should be the cause of it. Lumbini State Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya said that the government will work with commitment for gender equality and empowerment. After the

dialogue, the 'Bhairava Manifesto' was issued to work for women's equality and empowerment. In the manifesto, it is demanded to conduct a special program to prevent gender violence, inequality, maternal mortality and discrimination, to make meaningful participation of women in every body of the state .
