To reduce the maternal and child mortality rate, a campaign to prepare family health details through mobile phones has started from Wednesday in Palpa, Banke and Arghakhanchi districts of Lumbini province. Lumbini Province Health Minister Khem Bahadur Saru launched the campaign from Palpa.

Minister Saru said that this program was started to improve the health and nutritional status of children under two years of age with complicated pregnancies (from conception to 42 days after delivery), children under two years of age. He said that since the maternal and child mortality rates of three districts of the province are very poor, they are going to prepare the family health report. He said that even though the number of people getting married under the age of 20 is high, programs aimed at teenagers have also been conducted. 

Health and Nutrition Improvement of Women, Children and Adolescents According to the special grant program operating guidelines, a campaign to improve the health of women, children and adolescents will also be conducted. Health workers will reach 65,000 households in Palpa, 48,000 in Arghakhanchi and 94,000 households in Bank to prepare details. 

Lumbini province is the weakest province in the country in terms of health and nutrition of women, children and adolescents, according to various surveys and studies. Pregnant women in Banke, Arghakhanchi and Palpa with poor health index will be monitored for 2 years after the birth of the child, pregnant women in complex conditions, children deprived of vaccination and nutritional status will be monitored. To bring

to regular service, health workers will be mobilized in every household. Acting Director of Lumbini Health Directorate Roshanlal Chaudhary said that this pilot program has been arranged for them to prepare family health information.  Under the

program, mobile health training will be provided to health workers at the local level, mobile health orientation for health workers at the ward level, health workers of the ward will be mobilized. He said that they will conduct a survey, and after the household survey, every pregnant woman and children under the age of 2 years will be monitored regularly and health services will be provided. Acting Director Chowdhury said that the service will be enhanced by sending messages to the mobile phones of service users and service providers for the regular use of the service. For the program, there is a budget of 39 lakhs in Palpa, 41 lakhs in Banke and 31 lakhs in Arghakhanchi. 

Lumbini province has a population of 51 lakh 53 thousand. Here, the population under one year is 86 thousand, under 2 years is 171 thousand, and under 5 years is 416 thousand. The population of the age group of 10 to 19 years is 10 lakh 28 thousand, the population of women aged 10 to 19 is 5 lakh 10 thousand, the estimated number of pregnant women is 1 lakh 21 thousand, the number of live births is 88 thousand.

Inauguration program, Member of Lumbini Provincial Assembly, Chairman of Economy, Industry and Tourism Committee, Rajuprasad Shrestha said that after this report is prepared, it is the obligation to increase the percentage of examinations during pregnancy, delivery in health institutions and after delivery to more than 90.  

  Among the seven provinces of the country, Lumbini has the highest number of stillbirths. The nutritional situation is appalling. He said that the government has to make a special plan and work. District Coordination Committee chief Tankanath Khanal said that the program will be effective as they will be monitored through the mobile app after collecting the details. Santosh Lal Shrestha, Mayor of Tansen Municipality, said that the union and state governments should also help to create an environment for investing in education and health. 

Chairman of Mathagadhi Rural Municipality, Yam Bahadur Chidi emphasized that the three levels of the government should coordinate and increase investment in basic health services. Chief District Officer Toynarayan Subedi emphasized that the credibility of the survey should be maintained. Pawan Vaishya of Medic Mobile said that the family health profile will be prepared through the mobile app and it will be made reliable. 

Public health administrator Vishal Subedi of the Directorate of Health said in the program that this program will be effective in order to reduce the maternal and child mortality rate because teenagers still get married under the age of 20. 

Infant mortality rate in Lumbini province is 24 newborn mortality rate per 1000 births, 34 mortality rate for children under one year and 41 mortality rate for children under five years of age. At the national level, it is 21, 28 and 33 respectively. Maternal mortality rate is 207 per 1 lakh in Lumbini province and 151 at the national level.
