Swaviyu elections are going on in 95 campuses including government and community campuses in Lumbini province. Independent student union elections are being held in 95 campuses under Tribhuvan University, including 7 individual and 88 affiliated campuses.
There are 146 campuses in Lumbini province. Out of them, only 95 campuses have agreed to hold elections. In other campuses, it has been stopped due to disputes by various organizations. In 36 campuses out of 95 elections, the leadership has been unanimously selected, but the organizations have not made it public.
According to Vinita Kafle, the central secretary of UNSWA and in-charge of Lumbini province, it was agreed upon by the organizations in different campuses but it was not made public.
According to TR Pandey, a central member of the New Union, elections were not held in all the campuses across the province and although the data of all the campuses that were unanimously agreed upon were not consolidated, 36 campuses were agreed. Sharma said that after agreeing on the stalled colleges, the election process will be started soon.
In 15 campuses of the province, the Nepali Congress is close to the Nepali Congress, in 12 campuses the CPN-UML is close to ANERASWIU, in 5 campuses is Akhil (revolutionary) close to CPN-Maoist Center, in 3 campuses is Biplava-led Akhil (socialist) and in 1 campus is the Rashtriya Prajatantra Student Sangathan candidate who is close to RPP.
