One person died after being attacked by an elephant in Thakurbaba Municipality-2 Balati on Wednesday night.
The police said that the elephant that came out of Bardia National Park attacked the bari near the house at around 12:30 in the night.
The Information Officer of District Police Office Bardia and DSP Rishiram Ghartimar informed that 71-year-old Baliram Tharu of the same place died in an elephant attack.
DSP Gharti Magar said that while the elephant was damaging the wheat crop planted in the field, Tharu tried to run away and was trampled by the elephant.
Tharu's house is near Bardia Park. Kamal Chapai, ward president of Thakurbaba Napa-2, said that the locals were angry after the elephant attack. He said that the locals have closed the east-west highway against the attack of wild animals.
