Nigrodharam festival is celebrated in the historical and archaeological Buddha place. The festival was held on Thursday with the aim of highlighting the faith of Buddhists and the sanctity of Nigrodharam, an important place, and making it a tourist destination.

According to the Theravada and Mahayani traditions, monks and lamagurus opened the festival by chanting. 

The chief guest of the festival organized by Radio Tourism and Gachchami Media Group, the former president of All Nepal Bhikshu Federation, Bhikshu Maitri Mahasthaveer, said that the festival organized to remember the happy moment when Buddha came to the capital to meet his parents for the first time after attaining enlightenment, said that the festival is very important for monks and nuns.

"It will have to be gradually made an established tourist destination," he said, "Negrodharam is a place that inspires kindness, love, compassion and faith for everyone, so it has a special importance for Buddhists."  

After attaining enlightenment in Nigrodharam located in Kapilvastu Municipality-2, Kudan, Buddha met his parents in Nigrodharam on the full moon day of February when he came to Kapilvastu for the first time . To spread the glory of that historical moment, Negrodharam festival is held. In the

event, the goodwill ambassador of Lumbini Development Fund, Vikram Pandekaji, said that since there are many possibilities of new tourist attractions in Kapilvastu, Nigrodharam festival was celebrated to highlight them.  Kapilvastu Municipality-3 President Rudraprakash Gayre, Lumbini Development Fund Council Member Gopikrishna Sharma, Gachchami Media Group President Manoj Srivastava and Group Director Khagprasad Chapagain highlighted the importance of Nigrodharam festival in the

program.
