Nepali Congress central member and former minister NP Saud has said that the social media regulation bill presented in the parliament is not suitable to be passed without amendments.
He said this while talking to mediapersons in Tansen after visiting the Palpa Palace Museum on Monday. In the name of
control, he says that social media cannot be regulated by intimidation, coercion, jailing, and heavy financial penalties.
He said, 'This bill is trying to prohibit and control the principle of freedom of speech provided in our constitution. He said that the bill should be amended so that the rights given by the constitution can be used respectfully.
"Even if there is regulation, it should be universally acceptable," he said. He said that all the networks including Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, WeChat, etc. should have an office in Nepal and arrange an environment for their operation. He said that if that can be done, the communicated content can be regulated and taken into the legal sphere in favor of the people.
