Congress General Minister Gagan Thapa has commented that Maoist politics is not free from violence. General Minister Thapa, who arrived at Rolpa headquarters Liwang as part of the 'Ek Hundred Day Special Campaign' of worker awakening, said that violent politics is not necessary now while addressing a public meeting held in Liwang on Sunday.
'Many people lost their lives during the armed conflict started by the Maoists. That violent politics led to excesses on the common people," he said, "even though the Congress protested in 2007 and 2046, there was no pressure of arms."
General Minister Thapa accused the Maoists of supporting the politics of murder. Recalling that the Maoists had killed a Congress worker before the start of the armed conflict from Rolpa, he said that the series of killings did not stop even though the peace process was coming to an end. The Maoists killed Amar Jhankri of Rolpa to Naingsingh Khatri before the conflict started. Not only that, after the conflict ended, youth leader Rohit Pun was also killed here. Is this not the highest or fiercest form of violence ?' was his question.
He objected to the killing of about 122/23 people of the Congress because of the Maoists . He said, 'When I reach every district, I ask for the list of martyred Congress workers. If possible, I will read everyone's list. But so many have been murdered at Rolpa that I do not think it possible to recite here the list of all.'
General Minister Thapa was of the opinion that even though the Congress took up arms several times and played a leading role in political changes, it did not commit violence against any citizen and did not believe in violence. "But the Maoists killed the party leaders and workers in search of them". Because they used to say 'Jai Nepal'. He said in the program that the series of murders was wrong yesterday and will be wrong tomorrow.
