Falling into the trap of a broker when lured by a 'free visa'

Ramchandra of Khajura rural municipality-3 in Banke used to run a rice mill in Murau village. A family of six including four children lived happily. They have fallen into the trap of brokers when they are tempted to earn extra money and send their brothers and sisters-in-law abroad on 'free visa'. During his time, the food business has become stagnant and lakhs of rupees have been cheated.

Priya Rice Mill, which he was running, has been closed for a year when he wanted to go abroad on a free visa. Children have been transferred from private schools to community schools for not being able to pay the fees. Ramchandra, who had collected people in the name of sending them abroad, was cheated by a broker, but he is trapped in the clutches of debt.

The brokers initially made them look for the youth by arranging visas and sending them abroad. Murau collected money from the youth of the village and handed it over to the broker. After slowly all the money was eaten by the broker, Murau is now in trouble .

According to Ramchandra, from August 2080, Santosh Kumar Vick and Gaurilal Vishwakarma of Khajura, Tek Bahadur Vick and Dharmaraj Harijan of Janaki Rural Municipality called Nissan and Sunderbihani Youth Club and Khula Choupaya Protection and Management Organization were trying to find other youths saying that they would send them abroad on 'free visa'.

He promised to send his brother and sister-in-law to Malaysia for free in exchange for finding a person going abroad. Ramchandra was tempted to send his brother-in-law and brother-in-law to Malaysia without paying money.

When the broker said that the visa would come in one and a half months and that he would fly in two months, Ramchandra got suspicious. After that, the broker made 37 people undergo medical tests to convince them. He took him to Kathmandu to convince Ramchandra and show that he had access to the leaders. They kept Ramachandra, President of Integrated Samajwadi Madhav Kumar Nepal,  Photographed with Jhalnath Khanal, Prakash Jwala and Beduram Bhusal.

After meeting with the big leader, Ramachandra got faith. Dalal asked Ramchandra to find other youths. At that time, Matin, who was in contact with brokers, also looked for young people to go abroad. 82 people searched by Matin were also taken to Kathmandu for medical treatment. Looking for young people willing to go abroad, they raised money and gave it to the broker. The broker started looking for other young people .

Those who paid the money were angry after not being able to go abroad . Everyone came and started shouting at Ramachandra. The young man who had collected the money from Matin also came to catch Ramchandra . While Matin had no contact with those who took the money . Matin took the money and fled to Japan. Ramachandra doesn't even know how many people Matin has collected money from.

The brokers gave a check of 5 lakhs to Ramchandra . That didn't happen either. On the other hand, the youth started beating Ramchandra . After failing to find any solution, Ramchandra took out money from the bank and paid 146 people with 4 percent interest. Which money has reached more than 42 lakhs . Still the youth are coming asking to return the money they have given . Ramchandra says that he is threatening to kidnap and kill.

Ramchandra's broker, who had paid more than 42 lakhs in cash to various youths, made off with lakhs of rupees by going to meet the leader in Kathmandu and taking him for medical treatment. Ramchandra says, "I used to pay the plane fare when going to Kathmandu". When I stayed in Kathmandu for one and a half/month, everyone used to pay me . All in all, around 600,000 has been spent. '

After being fully convinced that the broker had cheated, Ramchandra went to the police to file a complaint. The police didn't care at first . Went to the district administration office. A letter came from there to take necessary action. When the police did not arrest the broker, Ramchandra caught Santosh and handed him over to the police. After Santosh was caught, three others appeared before the police.

Garive Shesh, Chairman of Khajura Rural Municipality-5, Maoist leader Raksharam Burma and Rajkumar Burma, Ward President of Janaki Rural Municipality, took them out from the police. When they left the police office, they handed Ramchandra a check of Rs. 27 lakhs on different dates.

'That too has not been revealed yet . Ramchandra said that when the check bounces, the police will take all the evidence and send it back. I have been running the police office for 6 months. I haven't had any hearing, even if there is evidence, the police won't arrest them,' he said, 'They are still the ones who threaten me over the phone as to why the police went there.'

Ramchandra's wife Sushma Maurya said that the family came to know about everything only after being cheated by the broker. "We have reached a situation where the real estate is being auctioned while paying the brokers' money," she said.

Ramchandra went to the police again on 30th June 2081 with several checks of 27 lakhs from different banks, but the police did not register a case. Ramchandra claims that the bounced checks given by the broker on different dates and the amount more than what he had raised have been returned to the youth. He is walking with a blank check of 34 lakhs given by the broker on different dates .

'Even in the case of a complaint to the police, if the financial transaction is returned, the accused will be released . Now, we have tried to arrange an environment where both parties will meet three times,'' Mani Lamichhane, Senior Deputy Inspector of District Police, Banke, said, 'If the deadline is over, the case will be registered by itself.'
