Chairman of Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba came to Dang on Saturday. Deuba has come here to inaugurate the 2-day state-level Tharu Cultural and Raithane Food Festival starting from Saturday at the Tharu Museum in Dangisharan Rural Municipality-3 Chakhoura.
Along with the festival, the Mahatwa, Barghar, Bhalmansa Sangh's events have also started.
Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, Central President of Mahatwa, Barghar, Bhalmansa Association and former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, said that the two-day festival was organized with the aim of preserving and promoting Tharu language, art and culture.
He informed that the program was organized with the original slogan of 'protecting our culture, our san-culture increases the dignity of the country'. Barka dance of Dang and Nawalparasi, Mungrahawa of Kailali and Tharu dance of Chitwan will be presented in the festival . Cultural competitions and Tharu including Chaudhary said that there will be an exhibition of Raithane dishes of different castes. He informed that the Tharu dishes include Dhikri, Unadi rice rice, Roti, Unadi jhol, Pork sekuwa, Sinki dishes, Potato pickle and Raithane dishes.
Similarly, various Tharu language books, newspapers, Tharu handicrafts etc. will be kept for sale and exhibition. Chaudhary said that attractive prizes will be given to the first, second and third best cultural performers in the festival, as well as consolation prizes to all participating cultural teams. In the
festival, cultural glimpses of Tharu from Lumbini Province, Sudurpaschim Province, Karnali Province and Gandaki Province will be presented. Chaudhary said that thousands of Mahatwa, Barghar, Bhalmansa from Dang, Banke, Bardia, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Surkhet, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu districts will be present in the festival.
Deuba will stay in Dang for two days and in his presence, a program was also organized at the district party office in Ghorahi on Sunday, Nepali Congress Dang Chairman Shankar Prasad Dangi said.
