Raw ginger and white beans being shipped to Europe

Ginger and beans produced by the farmers of Nisdi Rural Municipality-5 Galdha have been exported to European markets. Dried ginger rice has been exported since two years ago. Raw ginger has also been exported this year. This year, more ginger rice and white beans are planned to be exported.

9 thousand 800 kg of organically certified raw ginger has been exported to Europe. Their goal is to send 20,000 kg of raw ginger, said Ammaya Mashrangi, manager of Galdha Social Entrepreneur Women's Cooperative in Galdha Dhunganabensi. "We could not send the ginger we used for juice as it was not growing well," she said, "Now we have started making ginger rice." It is thought that rice can be sent as per the demand.'

At least 20 women are busy cleaning ginger, making rice, and drying it in the building of the cooperative in preparation for export abroad. Narayani Dhungana, coordinator of the audit committee of the cooperative, said that 25,000 kg of white beans are also being graded. 272 members of the cooperative have been purchasing ginger after certifying it as organic and exporting it abroad.

The women here have been operating the ginger processing industry for 4 years with the help of various stakeholders. With the financial support of Raw Ginger Heifer Nepal, the coordination of Rural Economic Development Association (REDA) Palpa and the technical support of Akista Nepal, the cooperative had rented 42 plants of land and planted seeds from Sindhuli and Ramechhap. Chairman Mashrangi said that the land was leased by the ginger cooperative of suitable species for juice. Collaborators of Galdha planted ginger in Banglang, Gejha, Mudhabhanjyang, Tamasgiri, Bahpur. Only 1 lakh 3 thousand has been spent on rent. Sunari Magar, a worker from Dhunganabensi, said that 15 women are busy grading white beans daily in the cooperative. He says that collecting the beans and then grading them is too hasty. Farmers who used to get a price of 130 to 40 rupees this year have been able to sell it in cooperatives at 165 rupees per kg.

Farmers are happy after the marketing of white beans produced in this village, which is 65 km from the capital Tanse, has been ensured. To meet the demand from Europe this year, manager Dilmaya Saru said that 25 thousand 81 kg of white beans and 3 thousand 59 kg of black and gray beans have been purchased by the cooperative.

Saru, the manager, said that they bought beans from the same village for 45 lakhs 64 thousand 26 rupees. Preparations are being made to send 20,000 kg of the collected to various countries including Germany in Europe. Akista Nepal Pvt Ltd has assigned agricultural technicians for that. Farmers like Kathaidanda, Patangsar, Gejha, Dhanuwas, Gabudanda, Kharkdanda, Bahpur, Belauji, Dhachur, Kotthar and others in Galdha grow beans.  Ginger processing industry operated by

cooperative started exporting dried ginger rice to Europe 3 years ago. This year too, Akista Nepal has signed an agreement to export 10,000 kg of rice from non-native ginger. This raw ginger is 60 to 65 thousand kg. In May 2081, the cooperative sent 4,460 kg of ginger rice to European markets. Two years ago, the organization certified organic and sent 850 kg of ginger samples to Europe for testing. The exporting organization also supports the cooperative in processing losses, certification, overhead etc.

co-operative has collected materials for washing, grinding, drying, grinding and packaging of ginger with the help of government and non-government organizations. It has been encouraging to grow ginger as a cash crop to make women independent. As only the Galdha region is certified organic, the organization said that the ginger of nearby Jamire, Mityal, Jhiruwas and Sahalkot will also be certified organic.

Ginger powder is also manufactured. The ginger produced in Nisdi was bought by local traders and reached India only from Butwal, Bhairahawa, Kathmandu. Last year, the Galdha-based cooperative purchased 39,884 kg of ginger at 3,976,000 and sold it at 4,768,000. The local level, the state government and the federal government have also not paid attention to ginger production, market and its promotion in recent times, so there has been a sharp decrease in production. Recently, although ginger is cultivated in 280 hectares, according to the data of Krishi Gyan Kendra, it is mentioned that more than 13 thousand tons of ginger is produced annually in the area of 1,260 hectares.
