Tourism is the basis for making the economy of the village sustainable: Chief Minister Acharya

Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chetnarayan Acharya, has said that promotion of tourism is the strong basis of the economic prosperity of the village along with employment opportunities for the locals, agricultural products.

Addressing the on-site inspection and interaction program of Kanke Deurali Reservoir and Greater Drinking Water Project in Madane Rural Municipality-6 Madane of Gulmi on Saturday, Chief Minister Acharya said that the tourism sector has been prioritized to strengthen the local people economically and to make the economic sector sustainable by stopping migration to the villages.

The Kanke Deurali Reservoir and larger water supply projects affecting Arghakhanchi, Gulmi and Pyuthan districts need to be promoted by the three-level government as a joint project.  Lumbini Provincial Government plans to build a tourism circuit by connecting the cultural, historical and natural heritage of the province. The government has been moving forward.

Our province is known as a mini Nepal, it has a diverse landscape of mountains, hills and plains. The main resolution is to bring in tourists by protecting the archaeological heritage,'' he said, 'We have taken the tourism sector as the base of the prosperous Lumbini province. There are solid foundations that can strengthen the local economy as well.'

Tourism infrastructure development has been given first priority, and he is of the opinion that it will proceed by collaborating with various government agencies, private sector, and local communities. He said that he wants to develop tourism as the backbone of prosperity.
