1 crore 43 lakh 59 thousand 990 rupees have been collected from the donation box kept at Mayadevi temple in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha.
According to the Lumbini Development Fund, the amount was collected from the donation box counted for the second time under the financial year 2081/082. The treasurer of Lumbini Development Fund, Dhundiraj Bhattarai, said that the donation boxes were counted after 5 days from 18th to 23rd of January.
He said that donation boxes were opened and counted in the presence of local level, security personnel, police and other stakeholders. He said that the money collected from donation boxes is an important source of income for the fund.
32 employees of the fund were assigned to count the donations collected in the donation box under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Pilgrims visiting the Mayadevi temple donate with reverence. According to the fund, internal expenses of the fund are being managed from the income collected for
donations.
