Under the Babai Irrigation Project, the foundation stone for the construction of about 15 kilometers of main and branch canals has been laid for the first time in Gularia, the headquarters of Bardia. Muktinath Yadav, head of Gularia Municipality, laid the foundation stone of the canal during a ceremony on Monday.
The main canal is about 4 km long and the branch canal is 10.7 km long. After the construction of the canal, there will be irrigation facilities in the area of about 7,000 hectares in the headquarter Gularia. Swachhand Construction Services, Kathmandu took the contract and Bandana Bhagwati Black Buck Company Bardia took over the work.
Bimal KC, owner of Block Buck Construction Company, said that the contract was taken at a cost of 83 crores. Project chief Sushil Devkota said that the foundation stone of the canal in Gularia-1 should be completed by the end of January 2018.
