Sri Lanka's former president Ranil Wickremesinghe has offered prayers at Mayadevi Temple in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. He came here on a private visit and performed the puja on Saturday evening.
Wickramasinghe, who is also the former Prime Minister, also visited the Ashok pillar and Pushkarani pond in Lumbini. Wickramasinghe, who visited Lumbini with his family, recited Paritran at Mayadevi Temple.
Former President Wickremesinghe was welcomed by Lumbini Development Fund Security Branch Chief Khagendra Kafle and Information Officer Rajan Basnet. On this occasion, a token of love was also presented to former President Wickremesinghe on behalf of the fund. On Sunday, it is said that he will visit Tilaurakot, the ancient Shakya capital of Kapilavastu.
Wickramasinghe is the ninth President and the tenth Prime Minister of Sri Lanka . He became the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka for 6 times. It is said that he will stay in Nepal till December 17.
