The Sarawal agricultural produce collection center in West Nawalparasi, which was built for the collection and sale of agricultural produce within the municipality, has become unusable.
In Goini located in Sarawal Rural Municipality-4, the collection center built by Lumbini Provincial Government, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and Sarawal Rural Municipality has stalled due to lack of procedures.
A collection center was constructed at a cost of 1.5 million in the financial year 2075/76 by the provincial government to market the agricultural produce produced by the farmers in this area, which is considered to be a fertile land for the production of vegetables and food grains.
Locals who believed that the need to go to the big market for the marketing of agricultural produce will be removed after the construction of the agricultural produce center, are now disappointed. "During the election, the slogan was that farmers' production, marketing and price are the responsibility of the municipality," said Rajendra Chaudhary of Sarawal-3, "Now even the collection center that was built is standing still." A procedure should be made and put into operation immediately.
Since the collection center is not operational, the farmers here have to take their produce to Bardghat, Parasi and Butwal to sell it. The structure built for the agricultural produce center is now being used as a village clinic. As the provincial government has not made any plan for its operation and procedures, the state investment has become useless and the farmers have to face the problem of marketing.
Sarawal rural municipality has planned to operate it as a sales center for the materials produced by small entrepreneurs instead of creating a procedure for operating the produce center . The condition of most of the schemes built by the state is like this. Now we have planned to operate it as an exhibition and sales center for handicrafts and other materials produced by small entrepreneurs,' Sarawal rural municipality president Sukhadi Prasad Chowdhury said, 'Procedures have not been created on how to purchase the agricultural produce center and who will be in charge of its operation. '
The structure of the hot market built by the Lumbini state government in Sarawal-3 has also become useless. Due to the lack of cooperation between the provincial and local governments for the planning and operation of Hachuwaka, only three schemes in Sarawal are at a standstill.
The access road of the provincial government under construction in Sarawal Rural Municipality is also blocked. Even after three and a half years, the construction of the 2 km road has not been completed. The road has become blocked due to the negligence of the contractor. The construction of the access road connecting Parasi-Narayanchowk Hulaki road section from Bhidandi to the center of Sarawal village has been started with the investment of the Lumbini State Government .
