The passport service, which has been closed for 18 days due to server problems, will resume from Monday in Gulmi. Assistant Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Gayre said that the service which was closed since 6th of November is going to be restarted.
After the cyber attack on the passport system, the passport service was stopped across the country. He said that the passport service which was closed in the passport department, all the district and locality administration offices and the Nepali diplomatic mission abroad has started to resume gradually after the maintenance of the server, so it is going to be restarted in Gulmi as well.
Due to long-term closure of services, the district administration office has requested that non-essential service users take services only from next week as there may be overcrowding.
In addition to taking tokens for making passports on 6th of November, the administration has also requested the service users who have paid the revenue to receive services until 24th, 25th and 26th of November.
The number of passport makers in Gulmi is high. Assistant Chief District Officer Gayre said that because 60 people make passports daily from the district, when it resumes after a long period of closure, there may be a problem for the service users due to excessive pressure.
'Daily 50/60 customers come at a rate of 50/60 people, so if the service is stopped for a long time and then restarted, there may be a problem, so we have said that only those who have taken the token will be distributed at the beginning,' he said.
Last year, 12,273 people took passports from the District Administration Office, Gulmi.
