A team of the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission has arrested Chief Police Deputy Inspector Lalit Bahadur Budhathoki of the District Traffic Office in Rolpa on the charge of taking bribe from a transport businessman for facilitating the operation of vehicles.
A team deployed from the Liaison Office at Nepalgunj of the Butwal Office of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority seized 25,000 in cash from his residence in Rolpa Libang on Monday. He took money from businessmen saying that facilitating the operation of small and large vehicles in the district would cost money.
Police Deputy Inspector Budhathoki came to Rolpa about 6 months ago as the head of the office. The businessmen complain that money and chicken cocks are demanded as bribes while facilitating the operation of vehicles. Narahari Ghimire, spokesperson of the Commission, said that Pranani Budhathoki was detained and investigated.
