When the Laliguras are in full bloom, the forest is beautiful and attracts everyone. After the same Laliguras tree gets old and dries up, it loses its beauty and fragrance. With the art of the sculptor, not only the wood, but the forest itself gets a new life in the dead forest. Satyavati area of Gulmi is now green not only with blooming red flowers, but also with dry wood.
Sculptors have carved various figures on the fallen logs in the forest of Satyavati Hill, a center of religious faith located in Satyavati Rural Municipality-3. "Attractive idols have been carved in the fallen logs in the forest," said expert and senior sculptor Yam Bahadur Thapa, "in which the spirit of the Satyavati region is included along with cultural, natural and religious beliefs." Rich in natural beauty, Satyavati region is also a center of religious faith.
According to the legend, Satyavati, the wife of the king Rituvarna of the ancient Parakot kingdom in that region, came to live in the Satyavati region after losing her kingdom, and because she has the tantric ability to fulfill people's desires, it is believed that people go to seek her blessings. It is said that later the king became deaf when he bowed down while playing the game and hit his ear with a bow and signaled to the beggars to shout on the day of Kattik Sukla Purnima. Later, when they reached the hills of Palpa, it is said that after the death of King Rituvarna, Satyavati built his tomb and held a big fair there too.
In Satyavati, even now, on the day of Kattik Shukla Purnima, there is a big fair of shouting bridegrooms. There is also a tradition of flying pigeons and offering sacrifices after the wish is fulfilled . According to another legend, it is believed that Sati Devi's old finger and Thapla fell in Satyavati region. Sculptors have given life to the character of the same legend by carving it in the mudha of Guras.
A 10-day wood sculpture and painting workshop for the promotion of rural tourism was completed on November 10, 2081. Where 22 sculptors and painters participated. They have created an attractive statue reflecting the culture and legend of Satyavati region and the figures of contributors to Satyavati region's monastery and political and social fields.
Satyavati, the center of religious faith, is equally fascinating in nature. Satyavati area is also among the hundred tourist destinations announced by the Nepal government. Satyavati Bhumi is such an attractive place, and the red roses in full bloom in February and Chait look very attractive . Dozens of snow ranges can be observed from here at once, and many villages and districts of Syangja, Parbat, Baglung and Gulmi districts can be viewed.
Professor and senior sculptor Bhuvan Thapa said that the sculpture workshop could be the first in Nepal, utilizing the wood of Laliguras fallen in the forest. Satyavati Rural Municipality President Tikaram Pandey praised the energy and cooperative spirit shown by the idols and painters towards their native land and said that the challenge has been added to the rural municipality in the preservation of the statues and paintings created by the painters who gave life to the Satyavati area. During the workshop itself, thousands of people have observed, and the movement of domestic tourists going to Satyavati for observation has also increased.
