Damodar Gharti, a young flower farmer from Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-2, Rupse, Palpa has grown flowers on 10 plants of land. Due to various reasons, the flower plants he planted died early and then he applied pesticides. But more than half of the flower plants withered. Now the remaining flowers are also diseased. Gharti said that now there is a problem of drying up and wilting of plants.

"An agricultural technician from the village came and recommended pesticides," he said, "but the problem was not solved." As a result, I have to bear the loss from the flowers I planted on rent.'

Dil Bahadur Thapa of Rampur Municipality-4, Devisthan also put pesticides on the flowers planted after the disease appeared in the beginning. Anyway problem solved . But as much as it should have been, it could not be . Pesticides were also used as recommended by the agricultural technician . It could not be solved completely. "Not getting the help of agricultural technicians for flower cultivation has become a problem," he said. The flowers she planted did not grow . Some are dry . The flower has not bloomed well .

Despite the use of different types of pesticides, the problem has not been completely solved. These are just a few examples. It is difficult to find an agricultural technician for the farmers who cultivate flowers in the district . There is no crop protection officer or agronomist at the local level and the flower growers have to face problems because they do not reach the technical time of the Agricultural Knowledge Center.

Four years ago, after participating in the training conducted by the Lumbini state government, some youths of Palpa have started commercial flower cultivation . But they are now disappointed. Last year, the flowers were not sold and became disappointed. This year they are in trouble due to pest and disease.  Due to lack of technical knowledge, the flower farmers of Palpa are worried

The problem has arisen because there is no policy at the local level to encourage young people who are interested in commercial farming . It has been two years since Zawindra Basyal of Bagnaskali Rural Municipality-8, Dharapani started commercial flower cultivation. Flowers have been cultivated this year in the area of 7 plantations. But if they don't get help from anywhere, they seem to be disappointed . "Even this time, the flowers have not been sold," he said, "There was not much sale in Tansen." I have prepared to go to Butwal. I don't know what the market will be there.' There is always a problem in the sale of flowers every year. Basyal complains of having to face a lot of problems after cultivating the flowers until they are sold. He said that there is another problem of not getting farmers to work

. He complained that he did not get help from anywhere even though he was suffering from a disease in the flower . The students of Jan Vikas Mavi located in Darcha of Rampur municipality have also cultivated flowers . Last year, after getting a good price till Lakshmi Puja, after that it could not be sold at half price, so this year the production of flowers has decreased. Farmers who grow flowers complain that there is no coordination from the local government for sales despite the reduction in production.

Most of the young people engaged in flower cultivation have been cultivating seasonal and non-seasonal flowers . But Dil Bahadur of Rampur Municipality-4, Devisthan said that due to problems in selling flowers and garlands in the market last year, only 40 percent less flowers were planted this year. Although it is possible to earn 6 to 1 million annually by cultivating flowers, he complains that he has to fail every time due to lack of technical knowledge. "If technical services are provided to us, there is no problem in commercial flower cultivation," he said, "Rampur area can be cultivated for flower production." He said that more than half of the plants died. Now there is a problem that the flowers are drying up. He complains that despite the help of the local government for the diagnosis of the disease, it has not been solved. He, who has grown commercial flowers, is worried that there will be a lack of local market this year like last year. Although he is excited by cultivating commercial flowers for four years, he is forced to sell cheaply if he does not get the market in time.

On the other hand, it is difficult to get technical assistance in seed selection . There are not enough subsidies to encourage farmers who grow flowers. Farmers have been hit by the fact that Indian flower garlands are imported cheaply and reach the hills through the plains. Even the local government has not brought a special incentive program for the farmers who do flower farming .

Among the 10 local levels of Palpa, Rampur municipality has banned plastic flowers and garlands in the city area before Dasain. As a result, the farmers of Rampur area who cultivated flowers are happy for this year's festival.

Mayor of Rampur Municipality Raman Bahadur Thapa said that this decision was made to encourage farmers by promoting local production. "We have banned the sale of plastic flower garlands so that the local farmers will not be hurt," he said.
