CPN-UML has unanimously elected Chetnarayan Acharya as the leader of Lumbini Province Parliamentary Party. Acharya, who is currently the Chief Minister, was unanimously selected as the leader of the party at the meeting held in Butwal on Saturday. Acharya was earlier the deputy leader of the party.

After the deputy leader of the party Acharya was made the chief minister by the central leadership, former chief minister Leela Giri, who was the immediate leader of the party, became dissatisfied. Giri had resigned as the leader of the party on July 7, the same day Acharya was appointed as the Chief Minister.

Acharya was selected as the leader of the party by the unanimous decision of the 26 state assembly members sitting in Butwal on Saturday. The deputy leader of the party, Bhojprasad Shrestha, was elected.

Chowdhury, who was the chief whip earlier, also resigned. His resignation has been rejected. Similarly, after Sita Sharma, who was the whip, became the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Roka was selected as the whip.

The meeting has issued a whip to give a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Acharya in the state assembly meeting on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chief Whip Choudhary said that it was unanimously decided to issue a whip to all UML state assembly members to vote for Acharya as Chief Minister. Former party leader Giri was absent in the meeting.

Acharya was appointed Chief Minister on July 7 with the support of 56 people including 29 of UML and 27 of Congress in Lumbini. The government has not been able to achieve perfection due to the fact that the party leader could not be selected in the UML and the selection of ministers within the Congress was tight. It is also delaying Chief Minister Acharya to take the vote of confidence.

Now there are 5 UML and 4 Congress ministers in Lumbini along with the Chief Minister. Congress is yet to recommend one more minister. In Lumbini, which has 12 ministries, 2 ministries have been kept for small parties. However, the LOSPA, JSP and Civil Immunity, which supported the government, have all claimed the ministry and only two parties are left, so the UML-Congress is in trouble. According to

sources, two major parties have tried to combine civil liberties with state ministers or other appointments by giving one ministry to LOSPA and JASPA. From the parties that support the government in Lumbini, there are 4 members of the Civil Liberation Party, 3 Janmat, 3 LOSPA, 2 Jaspa, and 1 Jaspa Nepal.

Similarly, there are 10 members of the opposition Maoists, 4 members of the RPP, CPN United Socialist Party, Jan Morcha and Independent one each in the provincial assembly. Lumbini is in the 87-member state assembly.
