Senior cardiologist Dr. Yubaraj Limbu's book 'Heart and Vascular Diseases: Information and Prevention' has been released.

94-year-old senior citizen Angdoli Sherpa and Dr. Limbu launched the book at a ceremony held on Thursday at the Stupa Community Hospital in Bouddha Chuchepati, Kathmandu. Dr. Limbu's book 'Existence, Identity in Context' has been published earlier.

Dr. Limbu, who has served as a cardiologist at the Shaheed Gangalal National Heart Center for 25 years, has discussed the topic of heart and vascular diseases in a language that is understandable to the general public. 'The dialogues and inquiries with patients and their relatives he met while serving in various places are the source of inspiration for writing this book,' said Dr. Limbu.

Examining the history and current situation of heart disease, 19 million people die every year from heart and vascular diseases worldwide. This is almost one-third of all human deaths.

‘In developing countries like Nepal, on the one hand, the risk of coronary heart disease and mortality are increasing along with the risk of heart and blood vessel disease factors such as high blood pressure and diabetes,’ Dr. Limbu said, ‘On the other hand, the prevention and mortality rates of rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease, which have been largely eliminated in developed countries, have not improved.’

The book contains 15 articles on the precautions to be taken to prevent and eliminate heart disease. Topics include how many steps to walk daily for heart and blood vessel health, from what age to be aware of high blood pressure and cholesterol, and how people with high blood pressure should monitor their blood pressure. The book also includes information on the estimated risk of heart and circulatory system disease, and the possibility of a heart attack even without chest pain.

Information on heart and blood vessel diseases, their symptoms, tests to be done for this, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease, heart failure, heart rhythm problems and heart block is provided.

Similarly, congenital heart disease, prevention of heart and blood vessel diseases, air pollution and heart disease, blood vessel diseases, the importance of regular exercise, heart disease and healthy food, and the use of AI in heart and blood vessel diseases are also provided.
