The names of those who will be awarded under the Pragya Puraskar, which is given every year by the Nepal Pragya Pratishthan, have been made public.
The list of those awarded in various fields including language, literature, culture, philosophy and social sciences has been made public by the Pragya Pratishthan today. In addition, the Pragya Pradishthan has also started the Pragya Provincial Award from this time.
According to a press release issued by the Pragya Pradishthan's member secretary Dr. Dhan Prasad Subedi, the Pragya Pradishthan, each worth one lakh rupees, will be given to 12 people. In which, Prof. Dr. Abhi Subedi will be awarded for criticism, Prof. Mukunda Sharan Upadhyay for language, Dr. Dambar Chemjong for social sciences, Shailendra Sakar for Padma literature, Prof. Dr. Som Prasad Khatiwada for culture, Sushila Pradhananga for children's literature, Ahuti for prose literature, Ishwor Chandra Gyawali for philosophy, Dr. Sarvottam Shrestha for translation, Naresh Kangmang Rai (UK) for international literature, Buddha Yonjan for mother tongue (Himalayan and Pahari) and Amarendra Kumar Yadav for mother tongue (Madhes and Tarai).
Similarly, the Nepal Academy Foundation is going to give the Pragya Provincial Award, which is worth Rs 50,000 each, to 7 people for the first time. In which Malisha Yakthumba Limbu (Mahendra Kumar Nembang) from Kosi-1, Muna Chaudhary from Madhesh Province, Shanti Priya Bandana from Bagmati Province, Anil Shrestha from Gandaki Province, Kshitij Magar from Lumbini Province, Ramananda Acharya from Karnali Province, and Karna Dayal Sodari from Sudurpaschim Province will be awarded the Pragya Provincial Award.
The awards will be presented at a program organized by the Nepal Pragya Pratishthan on Thursday, Baisakh 17, at the Siddhicharan Hall, Kamaladi, Kathmandu, according to a press release.
