The Vasundhara-Man Pragya Pratishthan is going to award this year's Vasundhara Shree Award to senior writer Lokendra Bahadur Chand. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Pragya Pratishthan Chancellor Dubasu Chhetri.

It was decided to award the award to Chand in appreciation of his contribution to making Nepali literature meaningful, prosperous and advanced through the creation of excellent modern stories, plays and essays, informed Krisu Chhetri, member-secretary of the Pratishthan. He said that Chand has made a special contribution to making Nepali literature glorious and dignified and has contributed to keeping the place and identity of Nepali language and literature high and intact in the world community.

Born in Baitadi in 1997 BS, Chand, who is also a former Prime Minister, has published books including Visarjan, Hiunko Tanna, Baarahu Khiladi, Aparajita and Netaka Sathi.

Similarly, the foundation's meeting has decided to award this year's Manashree Award to Swami Ananda Arun. The foundation has appreciated his significant contribution to the upliftment of Nepali literature and civilization through the development and expansion of yoga, meditation, and spiritual philosophy and literature in Nepal and various countries of the world. Chhetri informed that it has been decided to award the award to Swami Ananda Arun for his contribution to enhancing the special place, identity, and respect of Nepali spirituality, philosophy, and civilization in the world community.

Born in Janakpur in 2001 BS, Ananda Arun has published books including Antar Yatra, Sant Gatha, Sant Darshan, and Acham Jo Dekhen Malle. Ananda Arun's books have also been translated into English, Hindi, Japanese, and Russian. Both awards carry a citation along with an amount of Rs 75,000 each.
