Four people receive Vanira Award

Madhav Khanal, who is dedicated to the advancement of the Nepali language, has been awarded the Vanira Pragya Award, computer scientist Muni Shakya has been awarded the Vanira Shankar Award, Dhanraj Giri of Chitwan has been awarded the Vanira Award, and Saroj Dhakal has been awarded the Vanira Seva Samman.

Madhav Khanal 'Bhavuk', who has been dedicated to the creation of Nepali language literature for seven and a half decades and the advancement of the Nepali language, has received the 'Wanira Pragya Puraskar' of 2082 BS.

Engineer Shankar Giri, patron of the Vanira Foundation, awarded him during a ceremony at the Vanira Hall in the capital Kathmandu on Monday.

At the ceremony, Giri presented the Vanira Shankar Award to computer scientist Muni Shakya for creating Nepali script on computers for the past four decades and inventing a machine-human based on artificial intelligence, thereby enhancing Nepal's pride in the international world. The amount of both awards is one lakh rupees each.

At the ceremony, Dhanraj Giri of Chitwan was honored with the Vanira Award of 50 thousand rupees for his significant contribution to the advancement of Nepali language literature by being dedicated to writing stories, poems and satire.

In addition, Saroj Dhakal, who has always been aware of social service since her adolescence and has been dedicated to the development of Kathmandu Metropolitan City with her mind, words and deeds, has been given the Vanira Service Award.

Earlier, the full-length statue of Dr. Giri located at the Vanira Museum was garlanded by the Chairperson of the Vanira Foundation, Mrs. Indira Prasai. The building and museum of the Vanira Foundation were established on 20 Baisakh 2079 BS under the initiative of Engineer Shankar Giri.

At the ceremony chaired by the Chairperson of the Vanira Foundation, Mrs. Indira Prasai, the awardees, Vice-Chairperson of the Vanira Foundation, Prof. Dr. Rishiram Sharma, Program Coordinator Bhagwati Basnet and Member-Secretary Narendra Raj Prasai gave speeches about Vanira Giri.
