The Jhapat Award Management Committee has awarded the 45th Jhapat Award to four writers during a ceremony on Saturday. In a program chaired by the committee's chairman Arun Rana, senior writer Prof. Dr. Vasudev Tripathi handed over the certificates and prize money to the awardees.
Sanat Regmi and Rajendra Thapa were awarded Rs. 100,000 each, and Dr. Gopal Prasad Sharma and Dr. Kanchhi Maharjan jointly received the Jhapat Award of Rs. 100,000.
Sanat Regmi was awarded the Jhapat Award for his distinguished contribution to the growth of Nepali literature through storytelling, while lyricist General Rajendra Thapa, who has made the Nepali language popular through words, was awarded the 'Yagya Keshar Award'.
Similarly, Dr. Gopal Prasad Sharma and Dr. Kanchhi Maharjan, who are pursuing their PhDs in Nepali language and literature, were jointly awarded the 'Saindhwaj Nanda Kumari Research Award'.
The names of the awardees were recommended by the Jhapat Award Selection Committee, formed under the coordination of Indira Prasai and comprising Prof. Dr. Hemchandra Nepal and Prof. Dr. Bharat Kumar Bhattarai.
A book titled ‘Endless Gratitude’ written by Member Secretary Rekha Rana was also released at the same event. Prof. Dr. Vasudev Tripathi released the book.
