Karna Bahadur Rai (Gaurung Kanchha)'s book 'Life Journey from Sokmtar to Signet Avenue' has been made public.
At a function organized by Bambule Rai Samaj, Nepal (Bamras) Society on Saturday, 16 Falgun 2082 at Mahalaxmi-1 Imadol, Lalitpur, the composer of the national anthem Byakul Maila, Bamras Chairman Gajurdhan Rai, Deputy Secretary to the Government and Poet Amardeep Sunuwar, writer Gaurung Kanchha, and founding treasurer of Bamras Sanstha Dilkumari Rai, among others, jointly released the book.
Born in Chaitra 2017 in Sokmtar village on the banks of Dudhkoshi in Okhaldhunga, Karna Bahadur Rai Bambule Rai is the son of Gaurung Pachha, a maternal uncle. After completing his formal education up to grade five, he joined the British Gurkha Army in 2036 BS. After serving for about 15 years, he retired from GRU Brunei and then settled in the UK after receiving residential facilities.
Gaurung Kanchha Wambule is known as a leading social activist among the founding members of Rai Samaj, Nepal (WAMRAS). In this work, he has presented his life story from childhood to the present under 94 titles. In the first part of the work, there are articles like ‘Janmatthalo Sokmtar’, ‘Mother’s Memory’, ‘Balchhi Thapna A-Afnai Khyawa’, ‘Boat on the Milk Coast’, ‘Memory of Shepherding’, ‘Bhoth-Madhesh Discussion’, ‘Swayongtar, Airplane and Lambari Lung’, ‘Tukratakri Gold, Silver Bag’, ‘The Context of Kantuwal’, ‘Memory of the Moneylenders’, ‘When Yakule’s Farmer Goes’, ‘Tobacco in Okhaldhunga Haat’.
Similarly, the second volume includes ‘Soldier’s Life’, the third volume includes ‘Life after retirement’, the fourth volume includes ‘Stories of Struggle in Britain’, the fifth volume includes genealogy and the sixth volume includes photographs.
At the public event of the work published by Ik Libju-Bhumju Quarterly, Shubhakarna Rai spoke on ‘Sokmtar Village from an Anthropological Perspective’ and Shubharaj Rai (Kazi) spoke on ‘Gaurung Kanchha’s Work from a Sociological Perspective’. Similarly, Tikhbir Rai, founder general secretary of Bamras Sanstha, Byakul Maila, Gajurdhan Rai, and language editor of Kritika Ganesh Rai discussed the social contribution of writer Gaurung Kanchha.
Similarly, Obika Rai, president of Wambule Youth Club, Buddha Rai, president of Wambule Rai Cultural Artists Society, Gyan Bahadur Rai, Man Kumar Rai, cultural activist Bhadragol Kirati, and others shared their views.
